While our pilot product iLocal™, the digital kiosk, is under development, LinkedUp has launched the iLocal™ print edition — a free, physically distributed publication designed for people who are experiencing homelessness and may not have reliable access to phones, data, or digital literacy.
The print edition functions as an immediate access tool, providing clear, localised information about meals, accommodation options, amenities, transport, community services, and free events in a format that can be kept, shared, and used offline. Unlike traditional service pamphlets, iLocal™ is intentionally designed to be human-centred and dignity-affirming.
The iLocal print edition is designed to inform and engage, whilst offering moments of joy and relief. In addition to practical information, it includes original content, including messages of reassurance and belonging, puzzles and light activities, and curated opportunities for safe community engagement.
More than a guide, iLocal™ is intended to send a clear message of solidarity — letting people know that they are not alone, and that they are not forgotten — that we are here, in their corner, and not giving up.
The publication is distributed monthly in areas of need and through frontline services, reducing reliance on digital navigation and ensuring information reaches people where they are — not where systems assume they will go.
The iLocal™ print edition also provides a low-barrier platform for support service providers to share accurate, up-to-date information with the people they aim to support. This enables organisations to increase reach, reduce misinformation, and connect more effectively with individuals who may not otherwise encounter or engage with their services.
The launching of iLocal™ print version, as well as all other associated campaigns, is about making a meaningful difference where it is needed most, right now.
We believe that small, local actions can combine to create significant and lasting impact, so we’re starting small – one city, one day, one person at a time – and learning everything we can along the way for future efforts.
